Canadian Rockies in the Fall

Fall is one of the most loved seasons for the perfect temperature, a vibrant display of colours and the very first coat of sugary soft snow on the mountains. The peak summer traffic gets diluted, opening way for an absolutely tranquil getaway before the winter. One of the best ways to cover and take in the scenic vistas and all that the Canadian Rockies have to offer in the fall, is aboard the Rocky Mountaineer train. With an interesting plethora of rail routes to choose from, here’s why you need to visit them in fall.

Vancouver

This coastal city where the Rocky Mountaineer journeys begin is an absolute delight in the fall. The train glides through the Fraser valley with the mighty Fraser River running its course along side making for a perfect view filled with autumn colours.

On another leg of the Rocky Mountaineer journeys, the train departs from the North Vancouver station offering uninterrupted views of the Horseshoe Bay and the fjords of Howe Sound that are a sight to witness in the fall.

Kamloops

Another wonder of the Canadian Rockies in the fall is the majestic Kamloops, known for its vibrant fall foliage, golden mountains and crimson rivers. Past Kamloops, the train travels through the Shuswap region which covers gorgeous lakes that are comparatively calmer in the fall and therefore beautifully reflect the clear skies above, surrounded with a bright red, orange and green verdure.

Banff | Lake Louise

One of the best kept secrets of Lake Louise is the beauty of it in the fall season. The calm waters and the golden larches that shine bright under the sun make this one of Canada’s most pristine glacier fed lakes. The iconic ice-blue colour of the lake comes through perfectly in the fall and for photography enthusiasts, there is no better time as the water is absolutely still due to low wind factor.

Whistler

With a unique and laid- back pace, fall in Whistler is colourfully glorious. The sights are coloured in reds, oranges and marvellous shades of golden that will leave you mesmerised. When the Rocky mountaineer is Whistler- bound, it passes through the Squamish region. Take in the stunning view of the world- famous coast mountains which are distinctly awe- inspiring in the fall from the glass dome windows of the train.

Jasper

After the summer crowds have dimmed, the real quaintness of the town of Jasper is further highlighted. The weather becomes more predictable enabling tourists to plan better and experience the natural splendour of Jasper. The mountain air is crisper all through the colourful months of fall season and the mirror image of surrounding mountains is a sight to behold.

The Rocky Mountaineer covers all these majestic towns and more with rail trips that take you across while you enjoy scenic vistas in luxury as the hosts pamper you with delicious food and entertain you with both facts and folklore.
